# Setup guide: Holiday camp

## A quick guide to setting up a holiday camp with recommended settings

### Creating the product:

- Navigate to **Product management \> Products**
- Click ‘Add product’ in the top-right corner
- Choose ‘Product’ and ‘Event’
- Add your camp name
- Add to your existing camps/events product group (folder) if you have one
- Click ‘Add new product group’

 

### Product settings

Outlined below are the settings required for a functional camp that members can book in the shop, but you may wish to consider other settings such as age restrictions and forms – for more details check out our broader guide - [Adding new Products: setting up Events](https://help.thrive4.com/adding-new-products-events?hsLang=en).

**Note:** If you’ve previously set up your camps using the ‘Class’ product type, you can continue to do so: [Adding new Products: setting up Classes](https://help.thrive4.com/adding-new-products-classes?hsLang=en).

**Details**

If you would like your camp to be bookable in your shop, ensure the Status is Public.

**Pricing**

- Click ‘Add price’
- If taking individual day bookings, enter the cost for one day and choose: 
    - ‘Price per’ – Session
    - ‘Purchase option’ – Any day, any time
- If taking bookings for the full camp, enter the total cost for it and choose: 
    - ‘Price per’ – Schedule
    - ‘Purchase option’ – All sessions
- If your customers can choose between a day or a full camp booking, enter descriptions (such as Day and Week) for each price option
- Click ‘Save’

**Tip:** To encourage more bookings, consider offering a full-camp price that costs less than booking all the days individually.

**Billing**

- ‘General’ – Single payment, No, Yes
- ‘Instalments’ – No
- ‘Payment providers’ – select the payment provider payment used for payments
- ‘Billing suspension’ – none

These settings will mean customers can book your camp as soon as it’s available, in one go, with payment being taken straight away.

**Shop**

If you already have a shop tile for your camps, simply check the ‘Include’ box next to it. If not:

- Click ‘Manage shop tiles’ then ‘Add shop tile’
- Ensure it is active and has a name (e.g. Holiday camps) 
    - Do not hide the label unless an image is uploaded
- Choose the Week calendar view (this is compatible with both booking options)
- Optionally change the tile colours and upload an image
- Click the Save icon then ‘Okay’
- Check the ‘Include’ box next to the tile to assign the camp to it

### Creating the schedule:

- Click the ‘Schedules’ tab at the top of the screen
- Click ‘Add schedule’
- Select ‘Custom schedule’ then add your dates and times
- Ensure an address is added to ensure attendees know where they’re going

- Add a maximum capacity and how far in advance the camp should be bookable
- Click ‘Save’ and you’re done!

### Final checks

Once you’ve finished creating your camp’s product and schedule(s), including any other settings not detailed in this guide, we recommend checking the customer journey by making a booking yourself. No need to confirm the purchase, just add it to your basket and proceed through the checkout to make sure everything’s working as expected and all the information is correct.
